A note from Wayne

A note from Ken

"Paul tells us in Colossians 3:23 that, "whatsoever, ye do", we are to do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men."  To help me apply this in the Homebuilders Class, I look at myself as a quarter going into a vending machine.  I ask the Father to spend me in the ministry of the class members in a way that glorifies Him and gives back no change.  I want God to spend the entire quarter.  I do not want there to be anything left when I am finished with the task.  I want to give it all without reservation and ask for nothing in return.  That is my reasonable service.

When I purpose to entirely spend myself in the cause and purpose to which He has called me, teaching the class, I find myself enriched in the process."

"I have been teaching or co-working (with Wayne) in the Homebuilders Class for over 12 years.  The greatest blessing about teaching the class is that it is the class where its name states its mission statement, "homebuilding".  Our church is only going to be strong and growing in the Lord if our families are strong and growing in the Lord.  God instituted and blessed the home long before he instituted and blessed the church.

Our main goals in the Homebuilders Class are:1. To worship the Lord through the study and discussion of His Word.

2. To help to build strong marriages based on Biblical principles where husband and wife are very best friends living out God's commandment of being "one flesh".

3. To help promote the Godly family unit as the foundation to a Godly church.

4. To encourage and promote Christian fellowship verses worldly fellowship.

Our secondary goals:

1. To train and mentor future workers in our church.

2. For Wayne and I to be available for prayer and counseling as class members require.

3. To be a blessing and of assistance to the needs of our classmates in every way we can.

One of my favorite verses is I Cor. 15:58.  We must be steadfast in all we do for the Lord.  We especially must be steadfast in the Lord for our spouses and our children.  This is a homebuilding priority.  Our labor is not in vain."
