The Weak Link Feb. 9, 2005
"Lord, make me to know…how frail I am." How we all love to flex our muscle, both physically and spiritually. We like to flaunt our strengths. Pride before man and God keeps us from admitting to any weakness. Many of us will not even own up to it to ourselves. Old John knew how to get the attention of the younger men when he wrote: "I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong."
In David's younger days, he had killed a lion and a bear with his own hands. He came to be known as "the great giant killer," and entire armies feared when he led his men in battle against them. Yet, because of the weakness of his flesh, he committed a horrible sin against his fellow-man, and broke the heart of the God he dearly loved.
It is not our strengths, but our weaknesses, that we need to guard. A person is never so strong as when they know their weakness. Paul found out that real strength can come out of weakness, for it was then that he was entirely dependent upon the Strong One to under gird and keep him.
You're only as strong as your weakest link; therefore, strengthen the weak link.
