         Our Companion in Suffering                                           Jan. 3, 2005

 

"Jesus...suffered..." Not once in His earthly life did our Lord complain or seek sympathy from others in His sufferings. This is what made the giant, Saul, such a little man when he said to those around him, "There is none of you that is sorry for me." What a difference in the two Kings.

The only thing Jesus was concerned with in His sufferings was His communion with His Father. How easy it is to gauge our spiritual life by the physical. In our Lord's darkest hour, there is no reference to the horrible pain. His one and only concern on the Cross was His intimate and eternal fellowship with the One He adored.

 

                       Suffering cannot separate us from communion with God.

                       Ask the three Hebrew children.
